The Department of Haematology at Royal North Shore Hospital, together with the NORTH Foundation, has announced a major milestone: the department has now achieved FACT Accreditation, made possible thanks to generous community support. This is an exceptional milestone for the team, and reflects the vital role donors have played in making it possible.
FACT Accreditation is an internationally recognised standard that ensures patients receiving bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapies are cared for in line with the highest global benchmarks. Achieving this accreditation at RNSH provides clear validation of the hospital’s practices and gives patients and their families confidence that their care is safe, high‑quality and delivered with compassion.
As one of NSW’s Immune Effector Cell Therapy Services, this accreditation strengthens RNSH’s ability to deliver world‑class cancer services, expand access to clinical trials, and advance research‑intensive healthcare for the community.
Building on this milestone, the expert Haematology team is now progressing to the next phase of care through the Cancer Cellular Immunotherapy Service. This service will deliver cutting‑edge immune‑based cancer treatments, expanding access to lifesaving clinical trials and locally developed therapies for patients with blood cancers and melanoma. Philanthropic support will be critical to accelerating innovation, improving survival and quality of life, and establishing Northern Sydney as a national leader in precision cancer care.
The Haematology team has expressed heartfelt thanks to supporters, acknowledging that their generosity has made a profound difference to the standard of care provided and to the lives of the patients who rely on these therapies.
