The Northern Beaches community came together in an extraordinary show of compassion at the sold-out 2026 AYAH Gala Dinner, raising vital funds for the Manly Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice.
Hosted by James Griffin MP at Manly Wharf Events Space on Thursday 18 June, the evening brought together 200 local residents, businesses, organisations and community leaders, united in their support for the young people and families who turn to AYAH during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, attended as Guest of Honour and delivered a heartfelt address recognising the important role AYAH plays in providing specialised care and respite for young people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Stories at the heart of the evening
One of the evening’s most moving moments was a fireside conversation between James Griffin MP and Emma Laubi, who shared the story of her late brother, Felix, and the care he received at AYAH.
Emma spoke with courage and warmth about the compassion shown to Felix and the comfort AYAH gave her family by allowing them to remain close, spend meaningful time together and create precious memories.

A place designed for young people and their families
Located at North Head on the former Manly Hospital site, AYAH is Australia’s first dedicated hospice for adolescents and young adults aged 16 to 30 who are living with life-limiting illnesses.
Its home-like environment provides age-appropriate respite, symptom management and end-of-life care, while also supporting the emotional, social and practical needs of families and carers. Every part of AYAH has been designed to protect dignity, encourage connection and help young people continue experiencing the milestones and moments that matter to them.
Since welcoming its first patients in 2023, AYAH has cared for more than 346 young people, becoming an important source of support for families from across New South Wales.
Generosity that will make a difference
The gala raised close to $100,000, an extraordinary result made possible by the generosity of guests, businesses and organisations that donated auction items, prizes and financial support.
