The NORTH Foundation is thrilled to announce that Sophie Scott is joining us as our first official ambassador.
A highly respected journalist, former ABC medical reporter, and passionate health advocate, Sophie spent decades educating Australians about medical breakthroughs, public health issues, and the importance of research.
With a career spanning more than 30 years, Sophie has a reputation for making complex medical topics accessible to the public.
As the national medical reporter for the ABC, she covered major health stories, from groundbreaking treatments to public health crises, with the goal of empowering her audience with knowledge.
She received an Order of Australia for services to broadcast journalism and community health.
Alongside her journalism career, Sophie is a respected health educator, keynote and TEDx speaker and mental health advocate, dedicated to sharing evidence-based insights that improve lives.
She teaches health experts and leaders how to communicate with impact.
She is an Adjunct Professor in the Sydney School of Public Health, at the University of Sydney.
Sophie is a proud resident of the lower North Shore. She was born and raised in Mosman and Neutral Bay and now lives in Cammeray.
Our relationship with Sophie began in 2022 when she hosted an event supporting tick-borne disease research happening at Royal North Shore Hospital.
Her warmth, expertise, and ability to connect with audiences were so appreciated, and since then, we’ve continued to work together.
As an ambassador, Sophie will play a key role in amplifying our message, championing medical research, and supporting our vision to improve healthcare for all.
Her dedication to sharing important health information with the public aligns perfectly with our purpose as a health promotion charity.
Sophie shared her enthusiasm for this new role, saying:

I’ve seen firsthand how their efforts make a real difference for patients, clinicians, and communities and I’m excited to help shine a light on their incredible impact.”
