With over a century of pioneering research, the Kolling Institute is the longest-running research organisation in NSW. It is advancing valuable discoveries and shaping the future of healthcare for the next hundred years.

Bridging Medical Research and Health

The Kolling Institute has a large, talented team driven by a common goal to help diagnose, prevent and treat disease, and improve the care our community receives.

Our researchers have a track record of success, a unique breadth of skills and knowledge and globally recognised expertise. They are investigating some of the biggest health challenges of our time from heart and kidney disease to cancer, musculoskeletal conditions, chronic pain and neurodegenerative disorders.

Backed by the resources and expertise of joint venture partners, the NSLHD and the University of Sydney and located alongside Royal North Shore Hospital, our researchers incorporate scientific breakthroughs into clinical practice, directly improving patient care and the health of our community.

The Kolling Institute is driving advancements in wellbeing and optimal ageing through three priority research areas:

Musculoskeletal

Conducting research to improve treatments for musculoskeletal disorders, enhancing mobility and quality of life.

Neuroscience and Pain

Focusing on the causes and treatments of neurological conditions and chronic pain to enhance patient care.

Cardiovascular and Renal
