Manly Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice

Providing compassionate, tailored end-of-life care that supports the unique emotional, social, and medical needs of young individuals, offering a dignified and personalised experience for both patients and their families.

Australia's First Dedicated Hospice for Young Adults

The Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) is a pioneering initiative located at the historic site of the former Manly Hospital. Opening in 2023, AYAH marks a significant milestone as Australia’s first dedicated hospice catering to the unique needs of young adults aged 16 to 30 with life-limiting illnesses.

Positioned amid tranquil national parks and conservation areas, it offers a serene environment for both respite and end-of-life care.

AYAH is committed to providing a supportive, age-appropriate environment where young adults can receive comprehensive care tailored to their unique needs. The hospice strives to alleviate the challenges faced by young patients and their families during challenging times, emphasising dignity, privacy, and emotional support.

It aims to set a precedent for future services in Australia, focusing on enhancing the quality of life and easing the healthcare journey for young adults with serious health conditions.

AYAH offers a holistic approach to care in a home-like setting designed to comfort both patients and their families:

Why your support matters?

Young people across NSW, from the furthest region in the outback to the coast, have limited options available if they are affected by a life-limiting illness and they require expert respite and care.

The AYAH provides a sanctuary that is welcoming, free and comfortable for young people and their family and friends. To make their stay extra special, small businesses in our local community offer generous discounts for patients and families, however the cost of an outing or experience is sometimes still out of reach. By donating, you can help cover the cost of experiences such as massages, sporting activities, dining out or other special events for patients and their families.

We are also reaching out to our community to help raise much-needed funds to support the hospice. Whether you’re helping to provide plants for the garden or supporting the hire of incredible therapists and carers to work with our young people – your fundraising and donations will make a difference.
